Frequently Asked Questions

What type of trainer are you?

I prioritize the mindset of the dog, not the physical body position. Sometimes I don’t care if my dog is sitting or standing; I just care that he feels calm and that he is paying attention to me.

I use rewards to encourage behaviors that I like. I also interrupt and redirect behaviors that I don’t like. I gently and fairly tell the dog both “yes” AND “no.”

What services do you offer?

I offer personalized training through your choice of in-home sessions or my one-on-one Day Train program. Once you complete foundational training, you are then eligible for my VIP support services which include e-collar, day camp, group classes and overnight boarding.

Which training tools do you use?

Every dog is an individual and every human’s circumstances are different. No one size fits all in dog training. Context is important when choosing training tools and techniques.

Some training tools that I tend to use often include a crate, a place board, a slip lead, food, toys, affection, body language, and patience.

How is your training style unique?

I focus on (1) your dog’s state of mind, (2) your relationship with your dog, and (3) communicating in a way your dog naturally understands. This is different from some obedience classes that focus primarily on using treats to teach verbal commands.

My goal is to teach you how to live with your dog in a way that builds harmony.

When is payment due?

Payment is due at the time of booking in order to secure your appointment. Cancellations for in-home training sessions made more than 48 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund. Please review our Training Agreement for complete details about payment and cancellation policies for each service offered.

Do you offer any guarantees?

Long-term success in dog training depends on the owner’s consistency. My commitment is to educate you on the “why” behind your dog’s behavior, explain and demonstrate techniques to change that behavior, provide feedback on your training and handling, and be available for questions between our sessions. It is then up to you to follow through and build the relationship you want with your dog.
